Meet Phil and Al

Writing a blog post. I’m sat in a tyre at a farm, (wo) manning a veg stall for a market gardener– and I need to persuade people that something genuinely kinda crazy but fun is happening at Indigo. And that they should come. So I’ve started writing a blog post.
(Hi Im golfo – my brother Michalis and I run indigo with our amazing lil team.)
WHO ARE PHIL AND AL?
A 24 year old Golfo met Phil and Al in a tunnel under Waterloo Station, and built Gatsby’s mansion to perform a play in. Long story. We’ve been great mates ever since – I think they’re some of the coolest people about. They went on to do a pretty good job of conquering the world, I opened a caf. The nice thing about June 28th is that these two things get to combine and there’s an amazing theatre production, that has no business being in my tiny little neck of the woods, descending on us.
Al and Phil talk about our tumultuous, joyful, trix-ety modern world using the awesome and inspiring stories from Greek mythology. It’s theatre that makes you think, feel emotional, laugh and get goosebumps. It’s all brilliant and made better by the fact that nice people created it.
PERFORMER ON THE NIGHT : MEGAN DRURY
I'm gonna show you what the team themselves write about SELENE, I’ll let you make your mind up
SELENE is a show about growing up defined by the body you're in. It’s about the moon, about a bunch of mates drinking wine up a big hill, about werewolves, and about realising who you are on the inside even if it doesn’t quite match how people see you on the outside.
If you know people who’d like that, send them our way. Do it once you’ve read this. Let’s see if it works. We’d love that. We’d love friends and friends-of-friends to all gather, come to the shows, hang out, and join us on the next bits. So, if you’ve got 5 mins, follow the links below and send them to some folks you think would enjoy it. And we’ll be damn happy to see them there, wherever they are.
And, of course, Thank You!
The show is gonna happen upstairs at Indigo, but we’re probably all going to hang out in the Beer garden beforehand because… it’s going to be sunny. That’s why we’ve said Doors 5.30pm with show start at 7pm. Friendship reasons. I’ll make spicy margaritas or smoothies or maybe icecream sundaes? Omg maybe we could do homemade ice lollies for everyone? When’s blackberry season? (Anyone know where I can forage elderflowers by the way?)
RUN FOREST RUN
Rock Ferry is kinda tiny, Indigo is even tinier and my beer isn’t on tap - it has to be in cans because of money and no space. But if you go on a night out in a place that’s hanging on by a thread and there’s 35 people in the audience and you can pretty much meet everyone in the bar / veg patch beer garden afterwards… does that make the night out a little more punk and then a little bit better? I think maybe for some people the answer is no…and those people won’t come to SELENE. But if you reckon the answer is ‘yup, but I’m busy/Netflix is on tele that night’…this would probably be the night where I would say choose Notflix, & come down to the Indigo.
